Metal stud

Very cost effective, this type of partition is used for fire rated applications and where ambient noise might be a problem.

Simple design

The design of metal stud partitioning is very simple. A metal upright, or stud, usually 50mm wide, supports a single or double layer of regular plaster board on each side.

Noise suppression

Fibrous fills can be put between the plasterboard sides to reduce noise transmission or increase the wall's fire rating. In many situations the stud width will be increased to 100 or 150mm to enable the wall to be stable at heights over 10 metres, or to offer up to 2 hour fire protection.
