home > products > pallet racking > application Joining ForcesA prime example of Trent's ability to design and install a storage solution is the success story of Wolf Omega Ltd. The distributors of security products turned to Trent when its warehouse, a disused RAF base in Nottingham, required a pallet racking system... Growing BusinessWolf Omega began over ten years ago in a shop in Nottingham selling fire and security products. Six years after starting up, it added Dutch powertool manufacturer, Ferm to its portfolio, and has since become highly successful in the third party distribution industry. Gordon Wood and Mick Irwin are the names behind the company, and they enlisted the expertise of Trent Design to design an effective racking system for Wolf Omega's main warehouse at RAF Newton. Pallet Racking RequirementRAF Newton, near Bingham, has been the base for Wolf Omega's business for the last five years. Situated in hanger five, Wolf Omega's team receive, inspect and store products for its customers, which include big names such as mail order company, ScrewFix Direct and high street supermarket, Aldi. The goods arrive in containers, which are then unloaded on to pallets and put away until required. Trent has the SolutionWith 180 to 200 pallets a day arriving from the Far East, America and Europe and between 80 and 100 being dispatched, space utilisation within hanger five was critical. David Camm, Managing Director of Trent Design, encouraged Wolf Omega to invest in a narrow aisle racking system, with the innovation of having three pallets per bay compared with the more usual two. A total of 4872 pallets are now stored with a block of racking measuring 75m by 32m by 7.2m high. New narrow aisle Flexi trucks have replaced the company's wide aisle trucks, and they work in 2.1m wide aisles. The FutureWolf Omega's aim is to achieve rapid expansion obtaining warehouses wherever possible. A second warehouse in Kirkby in Ashfield is just the beginning. With 1500 pallets at present, there is plenty of scope for further pallets and for more racking to be introduced. With a successful working relationship already in place, Trent Design will continue to find storage solutions that work for Wolf Omega. |
![]() "Trent Design offered an excellent service from the start. Attentive and professional, they had the plans drawn up in an impressive eight hours from our initial conversation. The racking fitted our specifications exactly, and as Trent Design was the only company to suggest a three pallet per bay alternative, we knew we were on to a winner." ![]() |
